Head is marked "T. J. M'MASTER & Co, AUBURN" (Auburn is very faint).
Maker Info:
"Truman J. McMaster (b.July 9, 1797 in Ballston Spa, NY, d.Sept 24, 1880) was a brother of Zalmon J. Alonzo Deluzon McMaster (b. Feb 22, 1812). He was part of Dunham & McMaster from 1821-25 with Samuel Dunham. Using convict labor, he made planes at Auburn prison 1825-29 and at Sing Sing prison from 1829-38. In 1839 he defaulted on his contract and it was taken up by Young & McMaster with that McMaster being Alonzo D. McMaster. The 1833 contract at Sing Sing prison called for 30 convicts at 37-1/2 cents per day." This is the D1 maker stamp which has a rarity rating of 1 Stars (uncommon)
