Up for auction is a beautiful portrait of the original Beatles before Ringo Starr became their drummer. This item is signed by Pete Best.
This is a rare photo of The Beatles with Pete Best as their drummer; What makes it rare is that all 4, including Pete, are wearing suits. The majority of the pictures that you see back in the day of The Beatles with Pete as their drummer, they are all are wearing black leather and cowboy boots.
This picture was taken after their manager Brian Esptein ‘dressed up’ the band by having them wear suits, and also right before Pete was replaced by Ringo.
I purchased the portrait back in the mid 1990’s. I hung the portrait on my wall until now. The frame is made of a metal alloy, the glass is a sheet of plastic and not real glass. There are light scratches on the plastic, but only noticeable up close. There are scratches on the bottom backside of the frame. It still looks brand new as if bought today!
The picture is framed within a white matte. The frame measures 20” x 16” in size, and the photograph itself is 10.875” x 14.75” in size. At the bottom of the frame is a card measuring 3” x 1.5” in size; this card is signed by Pete Best.
There is a Certificate of Authorization lightly attached to the back of the frame. The certificate measures approximately 8.5” x 5.5”, and is numbered 1328 in a limited edition of 10,000. The company who manufactured this item, Art Rock, had a photographer
Troy Alders
design the
portrait
with a Union Jack background. Art Rock had Pete sign it and the item was titled and released as “
Liverpool
1962”, with Pete and the other 3 Beatles.
