NICE EARLY CIRCA 1900 SCOTTISH KILT BROOCH LARGE SIZE FAUX CITRINE SILVER PLATED
    Description
Presented for your consideration is this fine specimen of a Highland kilt brooch. This brooch is in untouched, uncleaned, as-found condition with a wonderful patina. Based upon the construction, I would date this brooch to ca. 1900-1920. The brooch measures 3 1/4 inches in diameter and is struck in what appears to be nickel silver that has been plated in fine silver. The design around the perimeter is a continuous circle of thistles. This design frames a faux citrine (it appears to be glass) that is mounted in a large prong/basket-type setting. There is some wear and abrasion on the high points of the stone, but nothing obtrusive or detracting from the whole presentation. It is securely set. The reverse features a very substantial hinged pin colloquially referred to as a "T-bar" and an open loop catch which functions perfectly. The reverse perimeter features the raised mark of "MADE IN GT BRITAIN." This fine vintage brooch would most certainly complement your Highland dress ensemble. More fine jewelry from Brother Rabbit's hutch!
