Hand carved in Zimbabwe.  These stone Chameleons are one of my favorite small art finds in Zimbabwe.  The serpentine stone nicely reflects the true colors of the Chameleon.  I personally chose each carving at Newlands Market,  outside of Harare.
The Chameleon is an indigenous creature of Southern Africa.  Hard to see as they blend in with their surroundings,  a amazing creature to watch once found.

Chameleons or chamaeleons are a distinctive and highly specialized clade of Old World lizards with 202 species described as of June 2015. These species come in a range of colors, and many species have the ability to change color.
Colors change in response to excitement, stress, temperature, lighting conditions, the presence of another chameleon, and other influences. They are a very popular pet.
